'Art in Motion' car show celebrates Converse's 125th anniversary

Published on Saturday, September 21, 2013

Greer’s Karen Thomas is coordinating an auto show, “Art in Motion” that is unique to the Upstate to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Converse College.

The event is Saturday, Sept. 28 beginning at 9 a.m. It is the kickoff to a national program sponsored by the Edelbrock Family Foundation, called Campus Cruisers. The program aims to educate college-age students about cars, as well as provide mentoring and networking opportunities in the automotive industry.

Featured among the 125 cars will be a 1914 Watson Racer, along with classics to 2014 models ranging from Bentleys to Buicks and from Ferraris to Fiats.

A $10 donation is asked while students, children and seniors attend free. The all-day event includes the cars cruising to the Beacon Drive In at 4 p.m.

Information about the more than 125 vehicles, their history and event is available by contact Thomas, a Converse alumna, at 864-877-5795 or email.
