Auditions for “Shrek the Musical” will be held this week at the Tryon Recreation Center, 226 Oakland Avenue.
Greer Cultural Arts is producing the play that will hold performances Oct. 17-18-19 and 24-25-26. All times are 7 p.m. except for matinees on Oct. 19 and 26 at 2 p.m.
A cast of ages 6 and up is needed. Adults need to have mature voices for the leads. Tap dancers are also needed.
Those auditioning should be prepared to sing 16 bars of a musical theatre song. Bring your own music, a CD player will be provided. A cold read and a short dance routine will be part of the audition. Wear appropriate clothes for the audition that look nice and are able to move in, no bare feet.
Auditions come on first come first serve basis and a headshot is needed. If you are not available to attend auditions send a video of your audition here before Monday.
“Hopefully we will make an economic impact by bringing a lot of people to Greer to see the play. We want Greer to see the talent we have in our local community and most of all to have fun,” said Robin Byouk, Greer Cultural Arts Supervisor.
Rehearsals will be on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
