From Bristol, Tenn., to Taylors, in a matter of hours, Benton Blount wowed the crowd at Who Knows Bar and Grill with his soulful country voice. Blount had performed at 11:30 a.m. in Bristol and was show-ready in Taylors by 10 p.m.
Blount, a native of Valdese, N.C., resides in Greenville with his wife, Ashley, and one-year-old son.
Blount’s music career has come with sacrifices. He moved to Nashville and was working as a personal trainer and then became a recording artist. “It has been a hard road. One minute you are signed with a label and the next minute it closes its door and I had to start all over again," he said.
"I came to Greenville and played several festivals and shows and after three short weeks I fell in love with it, and it just really felt like home to me. My wife’s family is from Travelers Rest and it just all made sense to make this place my home,” Blount said.
Blount is working on a new and his favorite EP. “This EP really represents who I am as an artist,” Blount said. Blount’s “Guilty as Charged" is his No.1 single on iTunes.
Blount said that Edwin McCain has been a big influence on him. Blount signed with Agency Booking Group a year ago and is opening for The Moonshiners Band which is from the West Coast. He will be in Texas next week and later September will be opening for the Charlie Daniels Band in Florida.
