Blue Ridge 7th-8th grade fall baseball team wins weekend tournament

Three weeks after forming the 7th-8th grade fall baseball team, Blue Ridge won the tournament championship with a thrilling extra inning effort.

It didn’t take the Blue Ridge 7th and 8th grade fall baseball tournament team to gel and introduce themselves to some stout competition.

Three weeks after building its team, the Tigers won their first tournament in dramatic fashion – winning in extra innings on a run scoring game winning hit by Conner Hartwig.

The Tigers beat the 8th-ranked Dorman C team.

The Blue Ridge team members are, 7th graders, Michael Cantrell, Jake Cooper, Brian Gosnell, T.J. Highsmith, Matthew “Iceman” Pruitt, Joshua Ray, Dustin Seppala and Bryce Spurrier. The 8th graders are Tanner Edwards, Conner Hartwig, Brandon Haynes, Chase Joines, Tyler Justice, Jackson Morris and Ryan Nix.
