Blue Ridge falls to Union County

Blue Ridge found itself behind only three plays into the game with Union County and couldn’t climb out of the deficit in a Thursday night football game.

Union County beat Blue Ridge, 46-3, to remain unbeaten in Region II-AAAA at 2-0. The Yellow Jackets are 4-4 overall. Blue Ridge fell to 2-7 overall and 1-1 in the region.

Union County quarterback Brandon Thompson took over from there throwing touchdown passes to Quadric Smith, Devon Jeter and Shi Smith. De’Shaun Holmes and Markevious Glenn added one-yard scoring runs – all in the first half. Thompson added a touchdown on a one-yard run in the second half.

Blue Ridge plays at Eastside next Friday and Union County plays Greer, also unbeaten in the region with a Friday game scheduled at Greenville.
