Boomer demonstrated his precision and dexterity in talent to win first place in “Bring Your Dog Downtown Night” in Greer Station Tuesday night. The win was especially gratifying to Boomer as he had to unseat last year’s champion to win the second year competition.

Boomer convinced the judges his feat – rolling over and high fiving – was more skilled than his competitors’ tricks. Rob Colwell is Boomer's owner.

Sir Hamilton, last year’s winner, was confident performing on Trade Street, but he finished second despite a series of fast-paced moves – sit, stay, shake and hug. Judges awarded quality over quantity. Jason Cordell is Sir Hamilton’s owner.

Laydee was the only canine to sing on the outdoor stage and finished third. Laydee got the attention of the other dogs as some wagged their tails and others’ ears perked up during her rendition sounding like “Tomorrow” popularized by “Sandy” in the blockbuster film “Annie”. Jessica Langford is Laydee’s owner.

Gaining honorable mention were “Cute” Ellie, owned by Janice Asbury, and "Howling" Brodyowned by Rhonda Childress. Ellie was stunning in a matching hot pink ensemble bonnet, dress, shoes and collar and accessorized with flowers.

The annual event, presented by the Greer Station Association, produced an evening of festivities that began with a parade and ended with Pet Idol. The dogs’ platform, “Saved by the Heart” is a dog rescue organization and education program founded by Jessica Monroe, owner of Greer Trading Post.
