Hundreds of runners toured downtown Greer Saturday as they participated in the Earth Day Run.
Jennifer Owen and Meredith Oates enhanced their bibs with a heart next to the word Boston. They said it was a small way to show support for what Boston had gone through in the past week – two explosions killing three people and injuring more than 150 during Monday’s Boston Marathon.
Runners appeared to sing the National Anthem a little bit louder before the race.
The three races that began in front of the Greer Opry House– half-marathon, 5K and 10K – featured the serious runners going for the longer distances. Several men jogged while pushing babies along the way. Runners were pushing for new standards in the their age group.
Sports Spine and Industrial (SSI) had a full staff providing runners with massage therapy after the run.
The Southern Dance Connection of Greer provided entertainment and other vendors promoted health and fitness products and screenings.
