Boy Scouts will honor Ashmore with Citizen Award

Russell Ashmore Jr., will by honored by the Boy Scouts of America with the Distinguished Citizen Award at a 7:30 a.m. breakfast on Wednesday, May 11 at the Cannon Centre.

Ashmore will be honored as part of the annual Friends of Scouting breakfast.

Ashmore Brothers was founded in 1930 and became Ashmore Brothers in 1946. Russell joined the company in 1960. The company was sold last October to the Tennessee asphalt company Rogers Group.

The Distinguished Citizens Award celebrates those in the community who convey the same high level of character and values taught in scouting.

The breakfast is free and the public is invited.
