Anna Brown, from Greer, won the Miss South Carolina swimsuit competition Tuesday in Columbia on the first night of the preliminaries. Lia Holman, Miss Greater Greer, next to Brown, won the talent competition. Holman is a music major at Claflin University. She said she uses her music to express herself.
Brown was Miss Greater Greer Teen in 2010 and finished third runnerup in the state competition.
Anna Hatchette, Miss Duncan Teen, won talent and Makayla Start, Miss Landrum Teen, captured the evening gown competition.
Second round preliminaries will be held Wednesday. The teen will be announced Friday and Miss South Carolina is crowned Saturday night.
