CB&L promotes Jones, Trout and hires Garrett to executive team

President and Chief Executive Officer, J. Thomas Johnson announced two promotions and a new appointment to the saving bank’s executive officers team.

Jennifer T. Jones, who has been with CBL since 2000, has been named Executive Vice President. Dennis D. Trout, with the bank since 2013, has been promoted to Senior Vice President.

Brent S. Garrett has joined the bank as a Senior Vice President. Garrett’s primary focus will be in business development.

“We feel very fortunate to be adding another strong, local business leader to our executive team,” said Johnson. “These three individuals exemplify our commitment to the Greer community.”

Jones, a native of Greer, has more than 15 years of local banking experience.

Jones received her degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting, from Presbyterian College.

She is the chairman of the South Carolina Bankers Association’s Financial Literacy Division, first vice chairman on the board of directors for the Young Banker’s Division of the SCBA, serves on the board of trustees for Greer’s Partnership for Tomorrow, chairman for the School Improvement Council at Chandler Creek Elementary, Meals on Wheels volunteer, and is a member of the Budget and Finance Committee for First Presbyterian Church.

Trout has over 19 years of banking/financial operational experience in Greer and Spartanburg. He received his BS in Financial Management and MBA from Clemson University.

He serves on the Leadership Council, was a former director for the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce, is a director and former vice chairman of finances for Greer Community Ministries, and serves as deacon and trustee for First Baptist Church of Gowensville.

Garrett is a resident of Greer and a graduate of Lander University in Business Administration He brings 10 years of leadership experience.

He serves as chairman of the Greater Greer Education Foundation, is a member of the Greater Greer Chamber of Commerce Advisory Board, a member and former chairman of the chamber’s Leadership Council, a committee member of the Greer Family Fest, and serves as a deacon, elder and committee member for capital campaign of First Presbyterian Church.

“We are excited about these changes as we look to the future growth of Citizens Building & Loan,” Johnson said. “With our excellent home team in place, we look forward to building new business and personal banking relationships throughout our community.”
