Citizens Police Academy's first class is Thursday

The Citizens Police Academy begins Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Greer Police Department personnel teach a 10-week program designed to give citizens working knowledge of law enforcement.

Topics include patrol procedures (including a ride along), dispatch, detention, community outreach, criminal investigation, gangs, animal control, and K-9 and taser demonstrations. Classes are 6:30-8:30 p.m. on consecutive Thursdays.

Applicants must be 18 years old or older and pass a background check. Visit the police department at 102 S. Main Street or call 848-2156.
