Named to American Lung Association Board

Jaime Cox, director of clinical studies for the Respiratory Therapy program at Greenville Technical College, has been named to the board of directors for the American Lung Association in South Carolina.

Cox, a graduate of the Respiratory Therapy program at Midlands Technical College, joined the faculty at Greenville Tech in 2007, bringing 10 years of experience in hospital Intensive Care Units. Later earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Respiratory Care from Boise State University, she is now director of clinical studies for the GTC Respiratory Therapy program.

The American Lung Association in South Carolina is the lead organization in the state working to save lives by improving lung health and preventing lung disease. The organization funds vital research on lung disease cures, provides education and support programs to both adults and children, and advocates for stronger air laws and tobacco prevention and education.

The Respiratory Care program at Greenville Technical College gives students a combination of hands-on technical experience and a solid understanding of respiratory conditions and how they are treated. Clinical rotations give students exposure to patient care and experience in performing respiratory care procedures to prepare them to fill this crucial role on the health care team.
