CSI Junior Camp, for 8th-12 graders, is being offered by the Greer Police Department July 7-8 and 10-11 from 6-8:30 p.m.

Classes are free and registration is available by emailing Angie Childers or calling 864-640-1140.

Topics covered:

• Documentation of crime scenes and how to protect and preserve evidence.

• How to interpret types of evidence, basic knowledge of fingerprint science and shoe impressions, and participants will have the opportunity to investigate a crime scene.

The classes are hands on each evening.

Childers, president of the Greer PD Citizens Police Academy, said the CSI Junior Camp is an opportunity to explore an interest in crime scene or forensics as a possible career choice.

“This class has also been beneficial to those interested in other areas of policing as well,” Childers said. “You will have the opportunity to begin, what we would like to see, a lasting relationship with your local police department.
