GGEF awards 13 $1,000 scholarships to Greer area students

The Greater Greer Education Foundation awarded $13,000 in scholarships to 13 students from six high schools in the Greater Greer area Tuesday afternoon at Greer City Hall.
Students were selected by the guidance department of each school and submitted to the Foundation. The Foundation in turn will present scholarship funds to the technical school or college on behalf of the student.
D & D Motors reconditions vehicle for GCM client

Sue Hollingsworth, a Greer Community Ministries client, received a reconditioned 2012 Kia Forte on Thursday as part of the Recycled Ride program.
Hollingsworth, from Taylors, was in need of a car for errands, transportation to church and visiting her friends at GCM.
GGEF Gala raises $42,235 for education

The Greater Greer Education Foundation raised $42,235 at its Education Gala held Oct. 26 at the Cannon Centre.
The Gala is the Foundation’s only fundraising event.
The beginning of D&D Motors -- quite a story

Back in 1937, as the story goes, Dan Davenport went to a dealership in Greer to buy a car. He was in dirty overalls from working at the Lumber Company, and no one would wait on him. That bothered him. So what did he do? He bought the dealership, which we know today as D&D Motors.
