Erie Williams is named the new Riverside High School Head Football Coach.

 

Erie Williams, a long-time assistant coach at crosstown rival Greer, is the new Head Football Coach at Riverside High School.

Riverside Athletic Director Michael Pettit announced Williams as the new head coach on Tuesday.

Williams, 38, a 2000 graduate of Greer where he played wide receiver, coached football and other sports 14 years with the Yellow Jackets. Greer was 119-47 and won 11 football conference championships while Williams was an assistant coach. He was also a successful coach for the boys and girls track teams.

Riverside has lost 29 consecutive games. The Warriors are a member of Class 5A Region II, arguably the toughest football region in the state. Dorman, Spartanburg and Byrnes are among Riverside’s region opponents.
