Expect detour of I-85 southbound Friday night

Published on Thursday, August 23, 2018

Drivers can expect a detour of I-85 southbound on Friday night. The detour is needed to continue setting girders for one of the new bridge structures associated with the I-85/385 Gateway Project.  I-85 Southbound will be detoured at the Exit 51 ramp to the collector/distributor lanes. From there, motorists can follow signing to either I-385, Woodruff Road or back to I-85 Southbound.

The detour is scheduled for Friday night, weather permitting. Detour will begin at 10 p.m. and will be removed by 5 a.m. Saturday morning.

Along with the detour, there will be Pacing Operations on 85 Northbound during the same time frame. This is also needed for the girder setting operation.

Drivers are asked to travel with care through the Interchange during these times. Observe all signage and devices.
