The Greer Fire Department is partnering with Greer Domino’s to promote Fire Prevention Week (Oct. 4-10).

At best a free pizza will be awarded for randomly selected homes that order from the pizzeria on Tuesday, Oct. 6 between 6-9 p.m.. A fire truck will deliver the pizza and firefighters will determine if the customer’s smoke alarms are working. If they are working the pizza is free, if not the firefighters will replace the batteries.

This year’s Fire Prevention Week campaign theme is “Hear the Beep Where You Sleep: Every Bedroom Needs a Working Smoke Alarm.” An English and Spanish illustration is below.

“Half of all home fire deaths result from fires reported between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., when most people are asleep,” City of Greer Fire Chief Dorian Flowers, said. “That’s why having a fully functioning smoke alarm in every bedroom is so important. Smoke alarms save lives.”

“Fire safety is extremely important,” Easab Saeed, Greer Domino’s co-franchise owner, said. “We’re very excited to partner with NFPA and the fire department for a program that not only promotes the safety of our friends and neighbors, but rewards those who make fire safety a priority.”

Call the pizzeria, at 217 W. Wade Hampton Blvd., at 864-879-0111 to place an order and be eligible for the fire engine delivery.
