Melissa Fowler named Abner Creek Academy Assistant Principal.

 

Melissa Fowler has been named the new Assistant Principal at Abner Creek Academy, announced Spartanburg District Five Schools.

Fowler moves into the role following Shayne Daugherty, who was appointed as Principal at Abner Creek.

Fowler has been a part of the District Five since 2004. She served as a Literacy Coach at Abner Creek for the past six years, supporting teachers to improve instruction, implement ELA curriculum, and increase student achievement.

Fowler was a third grade teacher at Abner Creek since 2008, and before that, at Reidville Elementary School. Fowler began her teaching career teacher in Spartanburg District One.

Fowler was named Teacher of the Year at Reidville Elementary for 2007-2008, and District Five Teacher of the Year for 2008-2009.

Fowler earned her Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education, with a minor in Spanish, from Clemson University, and her Masters in Elementary Education from Converse College. She will earn her Masters in Educational Leadership from American College of Education in October.
