An update from the police department Thursday reported that the officer was treated and released from the hospital early Thursday morning and is recuperating from his injuries. The officer did not receive any gunshot wounds.The driver of the vehicle received what were described as non-life-threatening injuries and is still being treated at the hospital. At 8:06 p.m. Wednesday, the GPD reported an officer was investigating a suspicious vehicle near the intersection of J. Verne Smith Parkway and Victor Avenue Extension. According to police, the suspect vehicle then struck the officer and the officer discharged his service weapon.
