Greer area bands finish 1-2 in Upper State Championships

State Championships next Saturday at Batesville-Leesville

Greer area bands swept the top two places today at the Upper State Championships at James F. Byrnes High School.

Blue Ridge finished first and Greer second with Pickens third in the championships.

The contest featured 19 bands with the top 9 advancing to the state championships next Saturday at Batesville-Leesville High School.

Greer spent Friday at Dooley Field practicing from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. took a break and traveled to Southside to play during the Yellow Jackets football game.

Next week’s schedule will be more of the same for Greer. The football team plays Blue Ridge at Dooley Field on Friday night. The band plays at every Greer football game, home or away, and will be performing. It is also Senior Night where the senior band members will be honored.

Blue Ridge is also scheduled to attend the game between the rivals. Blue Ridge is unbeaten and Greer has one conference loss.
