The Greer community is mourning and expressing its support for an athlete with a Greer cheer and dance gymnasium whose brother was killed in the Orlando massacre.

Amanda Almodovar, from Tedford, Tenn., participates with Rockstar Cheer and Dance on Buncombe Road. Her brother, Stanley Almodovar III, 23, was one of 49 killed Sunday morning by a terrorist inside the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Fla.

He was hit three times: in the chest, the stomach, the side, and died at Orlando Regional Medical Center.

Stanley Almodovar’s mother, Rosalia Ramos, moved him and siblings to Clermont, Fla., in hopes for a better future for them, according to reports from Orlando. Stanley worked as a pharmacy technician. Ramos described her son as a happy man with a big heart.

Stanley Almodovar’s aunt, Yoly, was told a young woman who was with him said he came out of the bathroom as bullets were flying and he pushed people out of the way.

A GoFundMe page has been established online to raise money for funeral and travel expenses. The fundraiser had a goal of $1,000 and had raised $2,800 as of Tuesday afternoon.

Scott Foster, who owns Rockstar, posted on the page Sunday. “Today one of our own Rockstar athletes has lost a family member in the Orlando shooting. Amanda Almodovar, who is on Beatles, lost her brother Stanley Manolo Almodovar III this morning. We can't imagine the pain their family is experiencing right now and we want to be there for them in any way we can during this devastating time.”

Foster also posted a message on his Facebook page, “Amanda Almodovar my thoughts and prayers are with you love you and stay strong! Your Rockstar family will be here for you!"

Amanda Almodovar posted on Twitter Sunday: "How can the world be so cruel killing a brother that was like a father to me. RIP Stanley you didn't deserve this. I love you and miss you.”
