The high school football playoffs begin tonight with all games at 7:30.

Greer appears to be one of the most balanced teams head coach Will Young has fielded in the playoffs. The Yellow Jackets will enjoy home field advantage through the playoffs.

DANIEL (2-8) AT GREER (9-1)

Greer begins its annual journey into the state playoffs with a rematch with Daniel. Greer beat the Bobcats 42-23 in their meeting on Sept. 8 in Central.

Greer has averaged 48.5 points per game while its defense is allowing only 13.1.

Drew Houston directs Greer’s high-powered offense. He has some explosive weapons in running back Dre Williams and receivers Braxton Collins, Quay White Nate Jefferson excellent targets. Greer is averaging 8.5 yards a carry.

Daniel has Tyler Venables at quarterback throwing to one of his favorite targets, Drew Swinney.

WREN (6-4) AT EASTSIDE (9-1)

Eastside has enjoyed a renaissance with only one loss, to Region II champ Greer, marring an excellent season.

Eastside won the regular season game versus Wren, 70-7, at John Carlisle Stadium.

The nine-win season is Eastside’s third in school history, going 12-2 in its state championship year, 1977, and 9-2 in 1996.

Greenville won its Region I championship and plays a struggling Blue Ridge team at Sirrine Stadium.

BYRNES (7-3) AT HANNA (10-0)

Byrnes has had some injury concerns at wide receiver as it ended its regular season. Quez Mayes and Rahjai provide solid play at running back.

Hanna’s Braylon Peterson, a Shrine Bowl defensive back, is a two-way star, also providing the Yellow Jackets a target as wide receiver.
