Greer and Eastside hosts second round state football playoff games Friday night at 7:30.

South Aiken comes to Greer to play the Yellow Jackets at Dooley Field. Greer is 10-1 and beat Daniel 42-7 last week. South Aiken, 9-2, defeated Ridge View 47-28.

Greer is ranked No. 1 in Class AAAA and the Thoroughbreds are No. 2.

The Yellow Jackets have a nine-game winning streak. Greer quarterback Trey Houston has passed for 1,721 yards and 27 touchdowns. All the more remarkable is that Houston has not thrown an interception. Houston factored in five touchdowns – throwing for three scores and ran for two more. Running back Dre Williams leads Greer’s running game. Greer’s defense has limited opponents to 9.1 points.

South Aiken, runnerup in Region IV, will give Greer’s offense a formidable task – holding opponents to an average of 13 points per game. Quarterback Cody Boynton has passed for 1,929 yards and 22 touchdowns. Chris Roberts has rushed for 1,240 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Eastside (10-1) beat Wren 45-23 last week for its first playoff win in 14 years. The Eagles are facing Westwood (7-5) team that knocked off previously unbeaten North Augusta, 23-13, last week.

The Eagles are led by Region II-AAAA Player of the Year, Jordan Morgan. Eastside’s 18 players on the All-Region team were the most by any team.
