QuikTrip could have saved the expense of a private jet and a squad of execs to promote its second Greer store opening Thursday at 6 a.m.

Troy Pride of Greer walked into the store at 2414 S. Highway 14 on Wednesday and, without prompting, gave as good a public relations spiel as the one that the Tulsa, Okla.-team had rehearsed.

“I lived in Decatur (Ga.) and loved QT,” Pride said. “Every time I would go back there I would visit the same store and they would know us. When I found out the company was coming here I was ecstatic. You can't beat their customer service."

Chuck Barton, VP Sales and Marketing, described the culture QT promotes throughout the company. “Our customers are time starved and speed of service is important to them." That explains how cashiers deftly handle two lines at once.

The Greer location, near the I-85/Hwy. 14 interchange and within two miles of the Greenville-Spartanburg International terminal, may be its most accessible fuel/convenience store to highway and air traffic combined.

Greer’s store is the 30th since QT came into the upstate in 2011 opening its first store in Boiling Springs. A QT on Woodruff Road and at Highway 101 are two of the next locations scheduled to serve the Upstate market.

QT Kitchens is promoting its conversion of Upstate full service counters offering fresh, made-to-order food, premium drinks and frozen treats. Customers may order at a point of sale kiosk at the counters. The enhanced menu includes breakfast sandwiches, flatbreads, gourmet toasted sandwiches, made-to-order personal pizzas or by the slice and other foods. The kitchens are open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

“Our menu is customer driven,” Barton said. “They have asked QT for more options and we have responded.” One of the features enhanced are the specialty coffees – espresso, cappuccino, latte, mocha, Americano, chai latte and frappe – made with barista-like skill.

Barton said once the convenience store opens Thursday morning, “We never, never, ever close.”
