Seniors Jessica Gay, B.B. Lowery and Alexis Miller were girls just wanting to have fun tonight in their final home basketball game at Greer High School. Greer beat Spartanburg Christian Academy 46-31.

"We just wanted to go out on a good note. This was the last time we would be playing together and it was good that we won," Gay said.

Gay scored a game-high 16 points, Miller 4 and Lowery 2. The Lady Yellow Jackets spent the first half catching up with Spartanburg Christian Academy and the second half almost doubling the score. Greer held a 21-19 halftime lead.

Spartanburg Christian was held to one point in the third quarter.

When Gay hit her second of two three-pointers with 1:40 remaining in the game, Greer had its biggest lead of the night, 46-28. Gay can also claim to have scored the final points of Greer's 2011-2012 season at home.

"We were watching the scoreboard in the final minutes and having some fun," Gay said.

Lowery said winning the final home game was, "Awesome but bittersweet. "I'm glad we got to play the last game together. It's been a fun four years."

Miller, who is usually pounding down low for rebounds, said she had one goal tonight. "I wanted to leave it all on the floor. I loved playing with these girls."

Coach Carlton Greene, players families and friends honored the seniors between games, presenting them with a plaque and yellow rose. "I hope they felt good about themselves, the team and their season," Greene said.

Gay said there was little fanfare from Greene before the game. "He told us to play hard, it was our last time together on the court."

"With any group of seniors we're coming out together for the last time. You think about relationships. You hope they are successful after they leave here and visit to share what they have done. For 98 percent of the seniors in high school, their high school career ends with their last game."

Greer, 6-18, plays its final game of the season at Blue Ridge Thursday night at 6 p.m.
