BIN112, a star on Greer’s Trade Street for many years, has closed.
Jason Clark, owner of BIN112, will keep his companion downtown restaurant, Strip Club 104 A Steak House, at 104 E. Poinsett St., open, GreerToday.com has learned.
The sale of the building is reportedly $1.1 million to Jeff Gossett, who owns Select Restaurant on N. Pine Street in Spartanburg. The second Select restaurant will locate at 112 Trade Street where BIN112 resided for 10 years.
"I came to Greer to open a restaurant, provide customers great food and service and promote the downtown,” Clark said. “I feel that I have accomplished that.”
Clark said he plans to incorporate some popular food items, like the mussels, from BIN112 to his steak house.
Clark became Greer's signature restaurant when Girard's closed. "It's time for new blood and new business downtown," Clark said. "When the hotel (planned for the corner of North Main and East Poinsett) comes it will bring a lot of new business and will change Greer where others businesses will decide to take a chance."
Clark said he is planning on a more balanced quality of life by holding onto one restaurant.
"I did more with BIN112 than I ever imagined with my restaurant," Clark said. "Although I sold the building I retain full rights to BIN112," Clark said.
Employees will be added to the Strip Club 104 staff with several opting to leave Clark's employ. "It's not like we have a lot of employees to begin with," Clark said.
Clark said all gift cards will be honored at the Strip Club 104. "I've spent most of the day talking to customers and explaining what was happening," Clark said. "There's a sign on the door now and I didn't want them wondering what happened."
Clark has been recognized as the Upstate Restaurateur of the Year and earned virtually every accolade awarded to restaurants a strong customer base and social media following.
BIN112, at 112 Trade St., has been recognized as the best overall restaurant in South Carolina by Open Table, a national hospitality industry company that analyzes diner review. BIN112 ranked ahead of seven coastal restaurants, in the top 10. It’s the second time in three years Clark’s BIN112 was recognized, virtually unheard of with all the quality dining available in the Upstate.
Clark was also selected twice as Restaurateur of the Year by the Upstate Hospitality Association.
Clark sold the BIN112 building but will keep the rights to the name.
Select restaurant with a location on Pine Street in Spartanburg, will move into the BIN112 building, making it its second location in the area.
