Josh Jordan and Keddy Mendoza won Greer Idol and Greer Idol Teen, respectively Friday night, with the competition and Tunes in the Park forced indoors at Greer City Hall. Jordan won the $1,500 Idol prize and Mendoza earned $500 for Idol Teen.
Jordan and Mendoza also are related to former Idol winners. Jordan is the nephew of Dana Jordan, the 2011 Idol winner. Mendoza is the sister of 2013 Idol winner Kiefer Mendoza.
Dana Jordan and Kieffer Mendoza also served on the judges panel earlier this year.
The Carolina Coast Band, postponed once this summer, performed in the event hall that had limited seating. The Tunes in the Park season was already extended when two Friday events were lost to inclement weather.
Friday’s finals featured three Idol singers – Josh Jordan, Lauren Painter and Stephen Young.
The Greer Teen finals featured five competitors – Keddy Mendoza, Taylor Lee, Sophia Noyes, Roni Teems and Devon White.
All singers were asked to perform three songs – singer’s choice, emcee choice and the same song.
