Our son Tanner was 6 months old during Christmas 2013, and two images captured the essence of Christmas with our newborn. The first is of Tanner sitting with Santa for the first time. For us it was a precious moment, seeing Tanner trying to figure out what this big guy in red was doing.

Tanner was discovering Christmas for the first time.

The second is of Tanner and me sitting near the Christmas tree watching our toy train go around and around. This simple experience started a rediscovery of the Christmas season and meaning for our family. As I watched our son's expressions, curious looks, and joy with each lap of the toy train, I found myself seeing the holiday season again for the first time.
