Kayla Kershaw delivered an inspiring rendition of “I’ll Be There” by the Jackson 5 and Megan Watts, sang “Get Here” by Oleta Adams in Greer Idol Teen tonight.

The crowd gave Kershaw a rousing ovation in her rendition. “Your voice is glorious,” judge Sheri Turner, of Anderson Life Magazine, said. “I know you are there for me,” Elizabeth Simpson of Greer Children’s Theatre said.

Watts, dedicating “Get Here” to her father stationed in Kandahar, Afghanistan, gave a shout out to Lt. Colonel Thomas James Watts, “Hi, Dad.  I miss you.” Judge Wayne Griffin of Greer City Council smiled when he told Watts, “Sister, you have a great set of pipes.” Rhonda Rawlings of 107.3 JAMZ told Watts she captured her imagination. “You have wonderful stage presence and I can see you on stage at the Peace Center or the Bi-Lo Center right now.”

Song selections were Rhythms and Blues from Motown. One teen will be eliminated when voting is tabulated early next week to bring the field to four singers with three weeks remaining. Next week’s theme is movie and show tunes. Retro-Vertigo will perform at Tunes on Trade.

Go here to vote for Teen Idol through Monday at noon.

Catherine Warren sang “The Greatest Love of All” by Whitney Houston and was applauded for producing quality tone with the lyrics. “That’s a hard song and you did a great job,” Simpson said. “You go girl,” Griffin said.

Anna McCleer picked the Jackson 5’s “I Want You Back”. Rawlings said, “I love the dance moves you put in front of that music.” Griffin told McCleer, “You did a good job with the music.”

The judges encouraged True Heaven Heflin when she encountered difficulty remembering the lyrics to “I’m Coming Out” by Diana Ross. “You should be encouraged standing up there in front of the crowd,” Rawlings said. “”You have a beautiful voice.” Griffin told Heaven, “Baby girl, keep your head up. God has something special for you.”
