Graduation ceremonies for 55 members from the Leadership Greer Class XXXVI and Junior Leadership Greer Class XXVII was held on Tuesday at the Cannon Centre.

This year’s class raised more than $19,000 and distributed $3,382.37 each for its Nourishing Neighbors project to Loaves & Fishes, Greer Community Ministries and Greer Relief & Resources Agency to fight against food insecurity.

An outdoor walk in cooler was also presented by the class to Greer Relief to keep donated perishable items cool.

Several awards were given during the ceremony.

2016 Leadership Award
Each Leadership Greer class selects one of their classmates to receive the Leadership Award. The award is given to the person that has demonstrated superior leadership abilities and most exemplifies the ideals put forth by the program. The award was given to Josh Holzheimer, with the City of Greer Fire Department.

2016 President’s Award
Leadership Greer Class XXXVI Class President, Amanda Hopper, presented the 2016 President’s Award to Amy Keely, with Communities in Schools/Amy Clifton Keely Photography for her outstanding contributions to the class project.

2016 Mitsubishi Polyester Film Junior Leadership Greer scholarship
Jaime Taylor, with Mitsubishi Polyester Film, presented the 2016 Mitsubishi Polyester Film Junior Leadership Greer scholarship to Alyxandria Farkas, a Senior from Greer Middle College Charter High School. The Leadership Development Council selected Farkas based on her leadership roles, honors and awards, scholastic achievements and service efforts. She will be attending Clemson University in the Fall pursuing a degree in Packaging Science.

Volunteer Challenge Award
This year, the leadership classes participated in a competition to see which program could work the most volunteer hours serving the community. Both the adult and junior Leadership Greer programs served a combined amount of 1,045 hours over the last 9 months.

2016 Junior Leadership Award
Each Junior Leadership Greer class selects one of their classmates to receive the Leadership Award. The award is given to the person that has demonstrated superior leadership abilities and most exemplifies the ideals put forth by the program. Two students were voted on the class this year and the awards were given to Hayden Ehlich with Blue Ridge High School and Anne Darby Keating with the Upstate Homeschool Co-op.
