Four students from Greer Middle College Charter High School, Alyx Farkas, Diana Frank, Louis Kull and Micah Williams, attended the 4th Annual Charter School Day at the State House on April 10.

The South Carolina Chapter of PublicSchoolOptions.org hosted the event with more than 700 attending.

Students and sponsor Kelley Smith were able to see first-hand the impact state legislators and leaders have on charter schools specifically.

Freshman Alyx Farkas addressed the crowd from the State House steps, sharing her experience as a charter school student.

Students met with Superintendent Mick Zais and had lunch with Greer Sen. Tom Corbin.

Students learned the importance of advocacy and Alyx said that "charter school students have really won the educational lottery."
