Earl Tyric Smiley, 28, was arrested in connection for the back-to-back shootings that occurred in the early morning hours of January 6.
During the course of investigation, investigators learned that Smiley, who was at an establishment called “Boom Boom Boom” at 3803 White Horse Road, got into an altercation with a female before another individual intervened, reported Lt. Ryan Flood of the GCSO.
When the person tried to break up the altercation, Smiley pulled out a handgun and shot the victim at least one time. That victim was transported to the hospital and remains in stable condition, according to the report.
Following that shooting, investigators learned that Smiley drove to an apartment complex, located at 1900 Boling Road Extension to visit an acquaintance. Once inside, Smiley engaged in a verbal altercation that led to him shooting an additional victim before fleeing the scene, according to the report..
That victim was also transported to the hospital and remains in stable condition.
Smiley was arrested early Monday morning, in Charlotte and is facing the following charges:
• 4 counts of attempted murder
• 4 counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime
Although Smiley shot two suspects, investigators signed four warrants on each charge due to the close proximity of additional victims when Smiley discharged the gun.
