Investigators with the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office have charged 30 year-old, Anthony Kyseem Smith with two counts of shoplifting and one count of 2nd Degree Arson.

These charges were brought forth following an arrest made by the Travelers Rest Police Department regarding Smith shoplifting and setting items on fire at a Walmart located within their jurisdiction.

Greenville County investigators, working a similar case with the same circumstances, were able to substantiate evidence to charge Smith in a shoplifting and arson incident that occurred on April 4 at the Walmart at 3925 Pelham Road. During that incident Smith set fire to some clothing in an effort to cause a distraction while he stole merchandise from the store.

During the course of investigation, investigators also learned of another shoplifting incident involving Smith that occurred on April 8 at that same Walmart. That incident did not involve arson.

Smith is still in custody at the Travelers Rest Police Department and the date of transfer to face charges in Greenville County has yet to be determined.
