Miss Greater Greer picked up a big preliminary win Tuesday night at the Miss South Carolina and Miss South Carolina Teen pageants in Columbia.
Mary Grace Nasim, 20, from Greenville, won the Talent preliminary. She performed an aria, “Queen of the Night” from The Magic Flute.
The pageant had four preliminary winners. There are two more nights of preliminary competition on Wednesday and Thursday at 7 p.m. The final competition for the Teens is at 7 p.m. on Friday when the new Miss South Carolina Teen will be crowned.
The final competition for the Miss contestants starts with a pre-show at 8 on Saturday, when the new Miss South Carolina will be crowned.
Other Tuesday preliminary winners were:
• Miss Columbia, Sydney Ford, 21, from Gaffney, won the Tuesday Swimsuit preliminary in the Miss South Carolina competition.
• Miss Anderson County Teen, Brooklyn Brewster, 16, from Williamston, won the Talent preliminary in the Miss South Carolina Teen competition. She twirled a baton to “Hey Pachuco!” from The Mask.
Miss Lyman Teen, Morgan McCall, 17, from West Union, won the Gown/Onstage Question preliminary in the Miss South Carolina Teen competition.
Miss South Carolina 2016 will compete for the title of Miss America in Atlantic City, N.J., in September. Miss South Carolina Teen 2016 will compete for the title of Miss America’s Outstanding Teen in Orlando, Fla., in August.
