Nesbitt, Bentley on winning side in All-Star game

The North beat the South Saturday, 38-21, at the 65th annual North-South All-Star game in Myrtle Beach.

The North scored 21 consecutive points in the final seven minutes. The North leads the series, 37-36-2.

Mauldin’s Dre Massey the North Offensive Most Valuable Player as he scored two touchdowns, a 10-yard run in the second quarter and threw a 74-yard touchdown pass to Hyleck Foster. Massey rushed for 72 yards on 12 carries and completed two of three passes including the TD strike. Jalen Williams, who scored on a 1-yard fumble recovery, was the defensive MVP.

Jordan Barnes 55 pass receiving yards including a 14-yard touchdown catch and Ronheen Bingham, 35-yard blocked punt return for a TD, were the North offensive and defensive MVPs, respectively.

Greer’s Quez Nesbitt had 38 yards on 8 carries and Byrnes’ Shuler Bentley completed 13 passes of 35 attempted for 97 yards. He was intercepted once.

Rolland Nall of Greer played for the North on the offensive line.
