Tyson Wright, a fourth grade teacher at Chandler Creek, was in the spirit of meeting his students Friday on "Bow tie or no tie" day.
The equipment, at a cost of $25,000 with installation, according to Principal Jane R. Mills, is the first playground structures added since 1999. The PTA contributed $10,000 from a two-week Boosterthon fundraiser last year. PlayNation installed the equipment.
A full slide, spinner and wobble were among the additions that is centered around first and second graders for recreation and after school. Mills said the lower part of the schoolyard will be enhanced with new equipment next year.
Mills, members of the PTA and their children briefly tried out the equipment Friday afternoon.
