Plant tours at BMW Manufacturing Co. in Greer have been suspended for new model production and not expected to resume until summer of 2014, the company announced today.

BMW Manufacturing is undergoing a $900 million expansion that will allow the production of 350,000 units at its more than 4-million-square-foot facility. The X4, introduced this week at the Shanghai Auto Show as a concept car, has been designated as Greer’s next production model.

The BMW Zentrum, a museum-like building, will remain open and features BMW vehicles of design and speed through the years. The Zentrum, free to visitors, has a meeting and events center, a café and a gift shop.

Hours are Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Call 1-888-868-7269.
