Verna Mae McGaffic, age 94 passed away August 30th at NHC Mauldin.
She was born in New Castle, PA July 24, 1919 to Roy E. and Agnes McGaffic. She was pre-deceased by a brother, Roy E. McGaffic, Jr and a sister-in-law, Juanita L. McGaffic.
Verna Mae retired from Pennsylvania Power Company where she was employed as a secretary. During her employment she also was a dedicated caregiver to her parents.
Once retired she moved to Holiday, Florida where she lived until 1989; after the death of her mother she moved to Greenville, SC to be with her only brother, Roy. The joy of her life was her little dog "Baby".
She was a member of Lee Road Baptist Church and a member of the Roy McGaffic Sunday School Class, as well as an active member of the Pelham Estates Garden Club.

Broadus Bailey Dobson, 88, a lifelong resident of Greer, went to be with the Lord August 18, 2013.
Born August 29, 1924, to Alvin Charles and Irene Bailey Dobson, Broadus graduated from Greer High and attended Clemson University.
He was the owner of BB Dobson Used Cars for over forty-five years. He served as a Greer city councilman for 16 years and was committed to his hometown.
Broadus was a devoted life-long member of Memorial United Methodist Church. He demonstrated his love for his church through his service. He was a faithful member of the Ballenger-Duncan Sunday School Class, a lay speaker, active in mission work, and served on numerous committees.
In the days before his passing he was presented the United Methodist Church, Special Mission Recognition Award by the United Methodist Women.
Broadus?s life was a testament to his conviction: "Service to humanity is the best work of life. It gives me meaning and purpose."

C.C. Caldwell of Montreat, NC, formerly of Greer, SC, died on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at Hawthorne Inn, Greenville, SC.
He was born in Sharon Township, Mecklenburg County, NC, October 14, 1928, to Mary Edna Galloway and Samuel Bunyan Caldwell. His wife was the late Harriet Pressly Smith Caldwell.
Mr. Caldwell was a graduate of Sharon High School, Presbyterian Junior College, Presbyterian College, Erskine Theological Seminary, and Appalachian State University.
After serving as a Presbyterian minister for a decade, he taught seventh grade in the Greenville County School District for 26 years. He was a charter member of the Palmetto State Teachers' Association.
He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Greer where he served as both elder and deacon, and recently joined the Montreat Presbyterian Church, PCUSA Montreat, NC.
He belonged the Montreat Scottish Society, the Friends of Music at Montreat College, and the Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Also, he was a member of the Kerr Clan and the Clan Morrison Society of North America.
As a teacher, Mr. Caldwell accompanied students and parents on study trips throughout the Eastern United States and Europe. As participants in the American Host Program for many years, the Caldwells opened their home; so European teachers could experience daily life in the US.
Among his many other interests were beekeeping, gardening, history, and genealogy. Additionally, Mr. Caldwell built and installed hundreds of bluebird houses, helping to restore this bird in the Carolinas.
