Funeral: Friday, June 11, 2021

Age: 93
Location: Greer, SC

Antho Valree Phillips, 93, went home June 8, 2021, after a three-year battle with dementia.

A native of Greer, she was a daughter of Elbert and Nellie Mae Wilbanks Forrester.

Antho grew up on tenant farms in the O?Neal community and graduated from Mountain View High School.

She married a dairy farmer, and they went on to raise beef cattle on their farm near Pelham.

An active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, she taught the nursery Sunday school classes, led a bereavement catering group, made choir dresses and costumes, and cooked for the Happy Hearts club meetings.

In the community, she led Girl Scouts and delivered Meals on Wheels.

Antho loved to sew. She started making clothes for herself and others while still in high school and continued to sew for many people into her late 80's, making everything from wedding dresses to smocked baby dresses.

A strong, quiet, unassuming person, she taught her children to work hard, be inventive, practice good stewardship, offer compassion, and to face life with a smile and calm fortitude, not by what she said, but by how she lived.
