Catherine D. Dion passed away August 11, 2021.
She was a loving wife and partner for more than 40 years to Paul N. Dion, who preceded her in death; Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandma-Great and Nurse.
A native of Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Thomas A. and Margaret M. Dwyer, Catherine made her home in Suffield, Conn., and later in Moore, S.C., where she has lived for the last 34 years.
She made her career as an Industrial Health Safety nurse working for several manufacturing companies, including Digital Equipment Corporation, Mary Black Hospital and BMW Manufacturing. She also volunteered many years as an EMT, helping to pioneer the department, while living in Suffield.
Catherine was a devoted member of the Catholic Church of Jesus Our Risen Savior.
In the years following Paul?s passing, she dedicated much of her time to the church and participated in several of the church?s social groups.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ellen Dion and Michelle Dion Herrman (Michael); two grandchildren, Claire Franklin (Casey) and Grace Herrman; and two great-grandchildren, Kinley and Colson Franklin.
She was predeceased by her brother, Thomas "Buddy" Dwyer, Jr., who died while serving in the U.S. Navy; and two sisters, Mary Montalbano and Margaret Maynard.
A funeral mass will be held at the Catholic Church of Jesus Our Risen Savior, Spartanburg, S.C., on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 10 a.m., with a Prayer of the Rosary beginning at 9:30 a.m.
There will also be a funeral mass at St. Ann?s Catholic Church, Bristol, Conn., on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 10 a.m.
