A native of Bristol, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Daniel Peter Gordon, Sr. and Gloria Powanda Gordon of Campobello.
He is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and worked on the A6 Intruder Aircraft; was the owner of Alliance Construction; was an employee of Buncombe Antiques Mall, and was elected to the Rhode Island State House of Representatives in 2010.

Surviving in addition to his parents is a brother, Jeff Gordon.
