John Benjamin Mason, 90, born January 22, 1926, entered his heavenly home on April 1, 2016 from Greenville Memorial.

A native of Greenville, he was a son of the late Edward Smiley and Edna Neely Mason, a member of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, where in younger years he had held several offices in the church.

He was a graduate of Robinson Business College and North Greenville Junior College.

He had a career in textile management with Burlington Industries for 30 years.

He was a 50-year member of the Bailey Masonic Lodge # 146. John was a U.S. Army Korean War veteran.


Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Clark Mason of the home; two daughters, Charlene Morris (Palmer) of Asheville, NC and Melinda Lyall (Keith) of Wilkesboro, NC; five grandchildren, Elizabeth Rice (Chad), Rebecca Morris, Ben Lyall, Sam Lyall and Allison Lyall and one great-grandchild, Adeline Rice.

He was also predeceased by two brothers, George and Paul Mason and one sister, Catherine Howard.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, conducted by Rev. Mark Smith.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites.

Pallbearers will be Ben and Sam Lyall, Eddie and Steve Mason, Bobby Chapman, and Keith Howard.

Honorary escort will be the Fellowship Sunday School Class of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held 1:30 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. Tuesday at the church prior to the service.

The family is at the home.
