Mary Alice Rice, 79, daughter of the late George F. and Mary M. Effler Rice, passed away on October 21, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

She was a graduate of Woodruff High School, East Tennessee State University, and earned her master?s degree from Furman University.

She was a retired educator with Greenville County School District.

Surviving:

Surviving are a sister, Carolyn Rice Springer of the home; a brother, Jim Rice of Franklin, NC; her niece, Susan M. Springer and her great-nephew, Tyler J. Grubb, both of the home; and a great niece, Melanie S. Burt (David) of Lyman, SC as well as numerous nieces, nephews and their children.

She was pre-deceased by three sisters and two brothers.

Funeral Services:

Abiding by her wishes, her body will be cremated and no services will be held.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of one?s choice.
