Ralph Ernest "Yogi" Bates, 95, widower of Wilma Nanette Smith Bates, died May 17, 2016 at Alpha Health and Rehab.
A native of Greenville County, son of the late George W. and Ester Wade Bates, he was a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran, a retired employee of J.P. Stevens and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving:
Surviving are two sons, George Ronnie Bates of Greenville and Daniel W. Bates of Greer; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, one step-grandson and two step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Bates was predeceased by one great-grandchild.
Funeral Services:
Funeral services will be held 4 p.m. Thursday at The Wood Mortuary, conducted by Rev. Allyson Helvie. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memory Gardens with military honors.
Visitation will be held 3-3:45 p.m. Thursday at The Wood Mortuary.
The family is at the home.
