Roy James Clayton, Sr., 69, of Inman, went home to his heavenly father at his home Thursday, April 25th, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

A native of Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late Claude Lanford and Geneva Burnett Clayton, a graduate of Chapman High School, North Greenville Jr. College and Carson-Newman College, and a retired auditor with the SC Tax Commission.

Roy was a member of Holly Springs Baptist Church for sixty years where he served as a deacon, usher, teller and on many other committees.

He was most proud of his missions work which included Men on Missions, who made annual trips to help others, and foreign mission trips to Romania and Brazil.

Surviving:

He is survived by his wife, Annette Parris Clayton of the home; a son and daughter-in-law Roy James Clayton II and Lindsay Chastain Clayton, of Lyman; two daughters and sons-in-law, Laura Clayton Hawk and Fain Alexander Hawk of Lyman, and Pamela Clayton Brackett and Stephen Wayne Brackett of Campobello; two brothers and sister-in-law Jasper Clayton of Inman, and Howard Clayton and Judy Clayton of Franklin, Tennessee, and five very cherished grandchildren, Amber Brackett, Austin Brackett, Alex Hawk, Andrew Hawk, and Ashton Clayton.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Holly Springs Baptist Church conducted by Dr. Tim Clark and by the Rev. Chris Jackson and Rev. Henry Stanford. Burial will immediately follow in Holly Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 2-3:30 p.m. Sunday at Holly Springs Baptist Church.

The family is at the home.

Pallbearers will be James Clayton II, Austin Brackett, Alex Hawk, Stanley Moss, Jacob Ryan, and Christian Parris.

Honorary escort will be the Men on Missions of Holly Springs Baptist Church.
