William R. Marler, "Roy", 79, of Moore, SC, went home to be with the Lord on
November 10th, 2017 after an extended illness.

A native of Spartanburg County, he was the son of the late J.C. Marler and Liza May Gregory of Moore.

A graduate USC Upstate with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, he was an employee of Lyman Mill and Hoechst Celanese Fiber for 24 years.

He enjoyed raising game chickens and limousine cows.

He was a member of Highland Baptist Church.

He was a loving husband, father, stepfather, father-in-law, and papa.

Surviving:

Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Janice of the home; one stepson, Tony Pearson (Kelly) of Greer; and granddaughter, Mandalyn (papa's girl).

Also surviving are one daughter, Debra Machen (James) of Charlotte, NC; and two grandchildren, Berkeley and Kate; one niece; two nephews and three great-nieces.

Mr. Marler was predeceased by his parents; one brother, James Charles Marler; one sister, Essie Mae Mathis and one nephew, Gary Marler.

Funeral Services:

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 13, 2017 at the Wood Mortuary, conducted by Pastor Andy Parker.

Burial will follow at Westwood Memorial Gardens in Moore.

Visitation will be held Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary preceding the funeral.

The family is at the home.

The family would like to thank Vicki Long, Katrina Deven and all the nurses at Heartland Hospice for their loving care of Roy.
