Megan Watts sang "Alone" by heart.  A judge gushed, "Your presence on stage is fabulous. Another judge cautioned, "I could hear the strain when you hit the night notes. You don't want the audience hear you strain."

Greer City Park's amphitheater was wall-to-wall with people in the first Tunes in the Park on Friday night. Interestingly, some of Teen Idol performers and their followers left after their competition.

An overflow crowd that stretched onto the lawn of City Park saw the Amphitheater serve as the new venue for Tunes in the Park Friday night.

Greer Idol and Idol Teen sandwiched its second week of competition between the Holiday Band performing two sets.  The final week of Idol competition and Tunes in the Park is next Friday.

Rain cancelled the two previous weeks of Tunes in the Park.

Eleven Idol contestants in each division competed Friday evening with the field to be trimmed to the final six. The winners will be announced next week after the competition. The Idol winner receives $1,500 and Idol Teen $500.

The city inherited Tunes in the Park when Greer Station Association members were indifferent in keeping the summer series downtown. Friday night’s crowd may have arguably been the biggest ever.

The list of Friday’s Idol and Idol Teen contestants and their songs selected from the 70s and 80s rock genre, in the order they were performed, are:
