Nine Riverside senior student-athletes, including four swimmers from the Warriors’ Class 4A state championship boys and girls swim teams, signed their NCAA National Letters of Intent Friday.

In addition to swimming, Riverside’s basketball, baseball, boys cross country, softball and girls tennis teams were represented.

The athletes were:

• Brooke Jordan-Brown, UNC-Asheville, basketball: A 6-foot-1 All-Region and All-County center/forward as a junior, Jordan-Brown averaged a double-double in points and rebounds last season. She also has a 4.54 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society and Beta Club.

"Brooke is a physical blue collar post who has great fundamentals and a hunger to be the best basketball player she can possibly be,” UNC-Asheville head coach Mock Kirkpatrick said. “When we were evaluating post players this past summer we were impressed with her consistency of play, ability to finish with contact in the paint and run the floor. Post players that have her hands and footwork are hard to come by and we certainly became a better basketball team when we added Brooke to our roster for next season.”

• Evans Harrison, The Citadel, cross country: Harrison helped the Warriors to the Class 4A state title as a junior with a personal best 16:30.07 and to a third-place finish this fall.

Harrison was also named to the Shrine Bowl Run Team for a race that will coincide with the annual Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas at Wofford College.

“Evans has been in our program the past six years,” said Riverside Cross Country Coach Eric Cummings. “He has shown hard work and dedication, which is why he has the opportunity now to run at The Citadel. He will be missed in the program and we look forward to following him while he is at the Citadel.”

• Faith Moyers, North Greenville, tennis: Moyers chose North Greenville due in part to her familiarity with the school and the players. Moyers’ sister, Holly, graduated from NGU.

“I have a lot of friends on the team already up there,” Moyers said. “The Christian environment there helped me make my decision as well.”

Moyers has trained at The Pavilion Tennis Academy for the past nine years, where mother Sherry is an assistant professional.

Moyers, who plans on majoring in psychology at NGU, played No. 1 singles and doubles for Riverside this past season, finishing with a 9-6 singles record.

• Olivia Norton, Charleston Southern, softball: Norton has hit .372 as a two-year starter in left field for the Warriors, including .397 (23-for-58) with a .478 on-base percentage as a junior. She scored 17 runs and had one home run and earned Top Defensive Player honors at the Rebel Invitational softball tournament. She also received all-region honors.

Norton chose Charleston Southern, which made an NCAA Tournament appearance last season and lost in the first round at Georgia, after making an early verbal commitment to Presbyterian. Norton also plays for the Carolina Elite club team.

“She a great player and she works so hard,” said Riverside head coach Debra Murphy. “If I had 11 or 12 like her, coaching wouldn’t be a job … We are really going to miss her next year, but our loss will be something good for their program (Charleston Southern).”
