Riverside High School ended its home schedule Thursday night with a 35-9 loss to Laurens.
It was Laurens’ third straight win and Riverside’s third straight loss.
Laurens running back Dequan Floyd scored on a 27-yard run one play after recovering a Riverside fumble on the opening kickoff. Devon Hubner’s extra point gave Laurens a 7-0 lead 19 seconds into the game.
Floyd scored four touchdowns.
Riverside’s Brooks O’Brien caught a touchdown pass from Warriors quarterback Logan DiBenedetto on the second play of their next possession. It was DiBenedetto’s first action since he was injured and had to sit out nearly three games,
Braylen McBeth and Floyd’s second and third TDs of the game and Antoine Kahaleh added a field goal for Riverside with the half ending with Laurens ahead, 28-9.
The Warriors failed to score on five drives in the second half.
Dibenedetto completed 22 of 47 passes for Greer.
Floyd gained 275 yards on 31 carries and quarterback Campbell completed all but two of his 16 pass attempts.
Bennett Von Waldner led Riverside’s defense with eight tackles, with O’Brien, Nathan Tullos, Colin Neel and Mark Blasko getting six tackles each.
Laurens remains unbeaten, 3-0, in Region II AAAAA and evened its record to 4-4 overall. Riverside fell to 3-5 overall and 0-3 in the region.
Riverside plays at Greenwood next Friday.
