Riverside places two bands in inaugural state festival

The wind ensemble of Riverside represents the second group invited from the school to participate in the SCDA Band Festival.

The wind ensemble of Riverside represents the second group invited from the school to participate in the SCDA Band Festival.

 

The Riverside High School Concert Band and Wind Ensemble have been invited to perform in the Inaugural SCBDA State Concert Band Festival.

Twenty-nine South Carolina high school bands qualified, but only16 earned an invitation to perform in the state festival.  Riverside has two performing.

Riverside’s ensembles will perform three pieces of music on stage for a panel of four internationally recognized conductors, including:

• Thomas V. Fraschillo, University of Southern Mississippi, Director of Bands Emeritus

• Mark Camphouse, George Mason University, Professor of Composition and Conducting.

• Steven Davis (University of Missouri Kansas City Conservatory of Music and Dance – Director of Bands. • Richard Clary, Florida State University, Director of Bands.

The event takes place on Saturday, May 7 at Irmo High School. Concert band performs at 10:40 a.m. and Wind Ensemble performs at 12:45 p.m.

Riverside families and friends are invited to support the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble.
